MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - A peak audience of 14.5 million people tuned in to watch the One Love tribute concert for victims of the Manchester terror attack. The BBC audience, which averaged 10.9 million, saw US singer Ariana Grande’s emotional return to the city in the event at Old Trafford cricket ground attended by 50,000 fans. Millions more tuned in around the world in over 50 countries, as well as online. Two weeks ago, a suicide bomber killed 22 people and injured dozens more at Grande’s concert at the Manchester Arena. All the proceeds from last night’s sell-out concert are going to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund, which has raised more than £10 million for those affected. Grande, who was joined on stage by acts including Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry, told the crowd their “love and unity” was “the medicine that the world really needs right now”. She finished the show with a version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow. There was also a mass rendition of her single One Last Time, which has been re-released in aid of the emergency fund.
